Biography
Dr. Nelson graduated from Queens University Belfast Medical School in 1992 and commences as Junior House Officer at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Initially, Dr. Nelson undertook surgical training in the Belfast Surgical Training Scheme then entered the Hull and East Yorkshire Radiology Training Scheme in 1996, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2001 with subspecialty training in Radio nucleotide Radiology. Dr Nelson was appointed to the Northern Health and Social Care Trust in 2001 and is presently Bowel Cancer Screening Programme for Northern Ireland Radiology QA lead, Honorary Lecturer at Queens University Belfast, Deputy Radiology Specialty Adviser to Chief Medical Officer for Northern Ireland and Clinical Radiology Lead for 3Fivetwo Group. Previously Dr Nelson was Clinical Director for Medical Diagnostic Specialties (2004-2010), Deputy Medical Director for Acute services (2013-2014) and Associate medical director for Unscheduled Care (2014-2015). Dr Nelson is on various medical committees and groups including Modernising Radiology Clinical Network, Colorectal Clinical Reference Group, and Multidiscipline Team Effectiveness Steering Group. Dr. Nelson has published and presented 14 Radiology articles.
